THE HABITAT PENANG HILL
The Habitat is a world-class eco-tourism facility located on the fringes of a 130-million years old virgin rainforest on Penang Hill. This rainforest is untouched and precariously exists side by side with urban Penang and its environs.
The Habitat’s eco-friendly attractions include a historical 1.6km Nature Trail built in the early 1800s by the British East India Company. Additional eco-friendly Canopy Bridges, a Tree Top Walk and Canopy Walkways will provide visitors with access to the forest canopy. Visitors will find themselves immersed in the natural beauty of the rainforest, marveling at our beautiful tree fern believed to be over than 100 years old, and other ancient rainforest giants such as the Damar Minyak and Rhu Bukit conifers.
Our star attraction Curtis Crest fondly known as the ‘Tree Top Walk’ is named after Charles Curtis the first Superintendent of the Penang Botanic Gardens It measures 100m in length and is the highest viewing platform in Penang at 800 meters above sea level and offers visitors 360-degree views of the island and mainland including Gunung Jerai (Kedah Peak), the paddy fields of Kedah, the ‘rice bowl of Malaysia,’ and on a clear day all the way north to Langkawi.
100% of our Nature Trail is a stroller and wheel chair friendly and is suitable for people of all ages and indeed for the entire family to enjoy. With our wide array of activities for all age groups, we believe that you will find that one visit to The Habitat is just simply not enough.
Visit us and be enchanted by the sights, sounds and breath-taking views of the magnificent rainforest at The Habitat on Penang Hill.
