Pencak Silat Made it into History in Masters Games

It’s 22 sports to be competed now!

Pencak Silat (The art of self defence) is the 22nd and latest sport to be incorporated into the Asia Pacific Masters Games 2018 Penang.

First-ever appearance in Masters Games

The traditional martial arts sport will be making its first-ever appearance in a multi-sport Masters Games event during the APMG 2018 in Penang, Malaysia on 7-15 September.

Pencak Silat was in blockbuster Black Panther?

Pencak Silat originated in Indonesia and is popular throughout South East Asia, including Malaysia. It has a vast following throughout the world and was one of the martial arts form featured in the recent blockbuster movie Black Panther.

Artisctic or Combat?

Two forms of Pencak Silat will be contested in the APMG 2018 – Seni (Artistic) and Tanding (Combat). The minimum age requirement to sign up for Pencak Silat is 30 years old.

The Pencak Silat competition will be held on 10-13 September at the iconic SPICE Convention Centre in Relau. It is one of three sports in the APMG 2018 Penang calendar to be hosted at the modern and chic venue, together with Taekwondo and Wushu.

What is a visit to an island without one to its beaches?
